My first Comp. sci class was quite boring

·I took my first CS class in my first semester, and honestly, it was so boring. The course was called Introduction to Problem Solving and Programming, so I thought we’d start with some interaction, maybe a few interesting problems, and then gradually get into programming and how things actually work. Instead, the faculty walked in, opened a PPT, and started explaining how the course would work, the rules, how we were supposed to behave in class, and all that and started reading through the slides from start to finish. The entire thing felt more like a waste of time than an actual learning experience.
The only good thing I got out of that class was a friend who’s now my best friend (hehe), so there’s that.
Honestly, all the tech-related courses in my first year were a disappointment. Most of the faculty would just read out PPTs, give us a list of important topics before exams to make sure nobody failed. And that was pretty much it. Nothing particularly interesting, nothing that made me want to learn more.
After the first semester, I stopped taking these classes seriously. I started learning things on my own instead of relying on college to teach me. I’d sit at the back, play games, read something, or just scroll through X while the lecture went on. Not exactly the most productive use of class hours, but I genuinely felt like I was getting more out of teaching myself than sitting through those lectures.
At this point, I can honestly say I haven’t learned much from college itself. Most of what I’ve learned about tech has come from exploring things on my own, building stuff, and figuring things out along the way. I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to be, but that’s just been my experience so far.
